We're going to cram one last trip in before school starts, heading to Spokane on Friday. I've heard it's great and it's only 40 minutes away from a restaurant that I fell in love with during our Utah trip last year. Silly reason to go somewhere 6 hours away? Perhaps. But we got a steal of a deal on a hotel that has two pools and a waterslide, so no one here is complaining.
So... anyone have any travel tips for Spokane & Coeur d'Alene?

No tips for Spokane - our experience with dining there included a Denny's and a waitress with the biggest fake eyelashes you ever saw. Coeur d'Alene - you must stop and go down to the lake. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
We just went to both Spokane and Coeur d'Alene on our trip to Glacier a couple of months ago. We loved both cities just walking by the water and hanging out at the wonderful parks they both have were fantastic! I saw that hotel with the water slides from the hwy and it looked so cool!
PS everyone loves Hudson's Hamburgers in CdL. We also loved the Upscale pizza place, toy stores, and quirky coffee shop (sorry don't remember the names) they had there on the main street. We just passed through Spokane but would love to return and check it out more.
Have a blast you guys!
My advice is to have some planned activities for the two hours between Tri-cities and Spokane. That strip has got a sort of post-modern beauty to it but ....
(for me, it is best tackled at high speed, with the windows down and the music up)
